Greg Layton

Consultant

CEO

Greg Layton has a wide and varied background, successfully managing and growing companies both private and public. Greg has consulting for numerous companies in the high-tech field and worked as a syndicated partner with an investment banker in the Washington, D.C. area, specializing in high-tech mergers and acquisitions.

In 1998, Greg was a co-founder of a very successful health care group in Virginia and North Carolina, KLR Management, Inc. He served as CEO, and was instrumental in turning this group into a large and successful $10M operation. The group was sold for a high profit in 2013.

In 1996, Greg was engaged by Sysorex Information Systems, Inc., a struggling $150 million PC systems integrator, to help the company set a new course and direction. As the Vice President Sales and Marketing, he wrote and implemented the company’s Strategic Plan, developed a new marketing strategy, rebuilt its sales staff and the company’s Internet web site. Within seven months, the company proceeded to win over $2 billion in contracts. Mr. Layton spearheaded the sale of Sysorex Information Systems, Inc. which resulted in a $46 million sale to VANSTAR, a $2.5 billion computer hardware and services company.

In 1992, he was brought into a 50 year old Pennsylvania company on the verge of bankruptcy to give it a new start and to take advantage of new EPA Clean Air Act regulations requiring tougher vehicle emission standards. As Executive Vice President, Mr. Layton co-authored a business plan and raised $1.5 million of start up money that allowed the company to re-engineer its product for the emerging market. Mr. Layton worked with the company for two years until it was back on its feet. In addition, he handled all the Sales and Marketing responsibilities for both the old line of business as well as the developing market.

In 1983, Greg, a founding member of Government Technology Services, Inc. (GTSI), was instrumental in building the company from a start-up of four employees to over $400 million and 500 employees. He held numerous positions including VP Marketing, VP Sales, VP Business Development and VP Marketing Communications. During this time period GTSI grew to dominate the Federal and State and Local government marketplace as a reseller of computer hardware and software products, as well as networking services.
